Residents had repeatedly approached the Noida authority to take action against encroachments at several intersections, unauthorised parking and the absence of a free left turn, as the issues were turning Atta Peer Chowk into a bottleneck.

“We have removed the iron fencing erected here as the place was being used to park vehicles. This is public land and no one has the right to use it for personal benefit,” AK Goel, chief project engineer (CPE) of the Noida authority, said.

Goel is responsible for recasting the Atta Peer intersection.

Commuters can heave a sigh of relief as the space for the left turn has been widened by removal of encroachments. The encroachments, coupled with the service lane that is used extensively by those visiting the buildings located at the corner, were compounding the issue.

The city traffic police had also raised the issue of the problematic left turn at Atta Peer Chowk at the district level.

“Free left is essentially required at intersections for smooth traffic flow but most of the city intersections lack one. We are going to write a detailed report to the Noida authority in this regard,” Prabal Pratap Singh, superintendent of police (traffic) for Noida, said.
