The Noida authority launched a cleanliness drive on Monday in partnership with Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd in Sector 18 on Monday.
The volunteers of Jubliant FoodWorks Ltd undertook the task of cleaning the entire Sector 18 market between 4pm and 5pm. Before cleaning the streets, the volunteers also performed a street play as part of the event to make people aware of the cleanliness drive.
“To sensitise people about the issue, a street play and a walkathon were also organised by our volunteers to highlight the importance of cleanliness. The drive will continue till December,” spokesperson for Jubliant FoodWorks Ltd said.
Jubilant FoodWorks Limited (JFL/Company) is part of Jubilant Bhartia Group and India’s largest food service company.
“The cleanliness drive is a part of the organisation’s ongoing Be The Change campaign — a long-term programme supporting the national agenda of Swachh Bharat, focusing on behavioural change,” the spokesperson said.
The Noida authority has come under sharp criticism in the recent months for the waste dumped across the city roads, choked drains and poor sanitation that were leading to unhygienic conditions. The authority said that it roped in FoodWorks to launch the drive to make people aware of the responsibility of keeping one’s surroundings clean.
“Through the street play and cleaning the streets daily, one after the other, by a qualified group of employees will give a positive message in the society. We need to realise our responsibility and share the responsibility for maintaining sanitary condition by not littering roads and streets,” Saumya Srivastava, deputy chief executive officer (DCEO) of Noida authority, said.

{{/usCountry}}Srivastava said that the authority has directed its public health officials to pick up garbage twice a day from the dumping sites.
“We have been taking all possible steps to keep the city clean. We have sought help from city residents also, by asking them not to litter their surroundings,” the DCEO said.
The city residents have criticised the Noida authority for rising cases of viral fever and said that it failed to check mosquito breeding this year.
