Police said the incident took place around 12.30am on Monday when the man, Mohinder, entered the house and his wife Meera confronted him for drinking every day and creating a ruckus in the neighbourhood.

An infuriated Mohinder started beating her up. Hearing her cries, their son Mohit came out and tried to stop his father, but he too was beaten, police said.

Mohinder then allegedly took a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife in abdomen twice and his son once. Both started shouting for help, waking up the three other children who were sleeping in their room. They saw Meera and Mohit bleeding heavily and their father Mohinder holding the knife in his hand. He threatened them too, following which the three children went to their maternal uncle’s house nearby and informed him about the incident.

Zaheer Khan, station house officer, Phase 3, said, “The accused is absconding after committing the crime. Some places nearby were searched, but he was not found there. A police team is already working to arrest him.”

In their statement to the police, the woman and her son said that Mohinder, a driver, would fight with them every day. He would also quarrel with the neighbours often and the family had to intervene every time to resolve the matter.

They also said that Mohinder was drunk the night that he stabbed them. Police said the family hails from Farukkhabad and all of them work as labourers in private companies and industrial units.
