Noida shooting: The real goons are policemen, says Raj Babbar

The Congress leader also met the family members of the injured and demanded strict action against the officers responsible for shooting Yadav.

Congress leader and actor Raj Babbar on Monday visited Jitendra Yadav, who is undergoing treatment at Fortis hospital.

Yadav was allegedly shot by trainee police sub-inspector Vijay Darshan late Saturday night.

“It’s been 10 months since the Yogi government assumed power in Uttar Pradesh and 900 encounters have taken place in that time. They called Jitendra Yadav a goon but the real goons are the policemen in uniform. Police officers who have done fake encounters are being posted as CO in Mathura,” Babbar said, while talking to the media.

Jayant Chaudhary, vice-president of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, also visited Yadav at the hospital and demanded a CBI inquiry in the matter. “It is a very sad incident and proper investigation should take place. Police have been targeting innocent people,” Jayant said.

Both the leaders also met the family members of the injured and demanded strict action against the officers responsible for shooting Yadav.

The case has been handed over to the crime branch after Yadav’s family members said they did not trust the Phase 3 police station personnel with the investigation. The family’s contention is that Darshan and the other three police officers who were with him at the time of the shooting incident are attached with that police station.

The twenty-five-year old gym owner and trainer was critically injured after Darshan allegedly shot him late Saturday night near Shramik Kunj in Sector 122.

Yadav was returning from his cousin’s wedding in Behrampur village along with his older brother, his uncle Kripal and two friends, Sunil Jat and Gautam, when the incident happened.
