Nine days after a road signage fell on two bikers in Sector 18, killing one of them on the spot, the second victim also died at a hospital in Noida on Wednesday.

Family members of Pushpender (26) said he had suffered multiple injuries in the abdomen.

The incident took place on the evening of May 23. The road signage, installed by the Noida authority near DLF Mall, fell during a storm. The board fell on Munna Kumar (27) and Pushpender (26), who were riding a bike. Munna died on the spot while Pushpender was rushed to Max Hospital. He died on Wednesday.

“He suffered multiple injuries in the abdomen. He was operated upon, but remained critical. Today, doctors declared him dead,” said Kamal Chauhan, Pushpender’s uncle.

Max Hospital said, “The patient came to the hospital in a critical state. He was provided with necessary treatment. Despite our best efforts, his condition deteriorated and he passed away.”

The police said they have not registered an FIR in the incident yet.

Munna hailed from Bihar while Pushpender hailed from Etah. The duo lived in Faridabad and worked as air-conditioner mechanics.

“We have not received any compensation from the government yet. We hope that the government responds quickly on the issue,” said Chauhan.
