A 10-year-old boy and two others died in separate accidents in the satellite city on Holi.

A 10-year-old boy and two others died in separate accidents in the satellite city on Holi, police said. On Thursday night, a speeding Toyota Fortuner hit four members of a family in Sector 41. Police said the incident occurred when Nangala village resident Arun was walking on the roadside with his wife, brother-in-law and 10-year-old son Amit.

“The SUV hit the family from behind and got stuck at the pavement. Passersby rushed to help and caught the driver of the SUV. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where the 10-year-old child succumbed to his injuries. The other victims are undergoing treatment and are out of danger,” said Zahir Khan, station house officer, Sector 39 police station.

The police said the owner of the Fortuner, Divam, 25, a resident of D-200 in Sector 47, was arrested under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“The accused was sent for medico-legal test. The reports did not find traces of alcohol in his blood,” Khan said.

In another accident on Thursday evening, Ghaziabad resident Vishwanath Singh, 55, was crossing the road in front of Fortis Hospital. Police said an unidentified speeding scooter hit him and fled from the spot.

Another accident occurred on Thursday evening at Okhla barrage where a speeding Wagon R allegedly hit a person and fled from the spot. The deceased, Babulal, 50, was crossing the road when the car, bearing a registration plate of DL 7S CK 4994, hit him from behind and fled from the spot.

“The deceased was a resident of slums of Okhla barrage. A case was registered following the incident,” said Zahir Khan, station house officer, Sector 39 police station.
