Noida transport department starts online test for issuing learning licence

The Gautam Budh Nagar transport department on Tuesday started online test to issue driver’s learning licence. The manual test has been replaced bring transparency in the process, officials said.

The first session of the online test started at 10.30am on Tuesday. Rajesh Yadav, the additional district magistrate (ADM) of Gautam Budh Nagar inaugurated the session at the assistant regional transport office (ARTO) office in Sector 33.

Five candidates appeared for the online tests, of whom only two could clear the test. The transport officials said the two successful candidates will receive their learning licence in a couple of days by post.

The test consists of 16 objective questions related to traffic rules, signs and general knowledge. The maximum time for the session is 16 minutes and a candidate gets 60 seconds to answer each question.

“A candidate can answer nine questions correctly in a row to qualify the test and save seven minutes. We will post the learner licence of the two young women, who qualified the first session of the online test, in the next few days,” Rachna Yaduvanshi, ARTO, said.

Yaduvanshi said that the applicants can appear for the test at a time suitable to them. The applicant has to deposit `60 fee for the test.

Rajesh Yadav, the ADM, said, “The online system will enhance the department’s image. Presently, learning licence is easily being obtained through touts. Now, one will have to prepare for the test because online system is under direct observation of the headquarters (Lucknow). There is no scope of using wrong methods now.”
