Quite a few students have secured a perfect 10 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in the class 10 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exam, results of which were declared on Saturday afternoon.

According to the parents of the brother-sister duo, the two have almost always scored same marks in examinations.
According to the parents of the brother-sister duo, the two have almost always scored same marks in examinations.

Two of these students are Shanaya Suneja and Shreshth Suneja, twins studying at Delhi Public School, Noida. According to their parents, this is not the first time that the brother-sister duo has scored the same marks.

“Shanaya and Shreshth have almost always scored the same marks in school examinations. They have always been outstanding students and hence mostly scored full marks. Even if they didn’t get a full score, the difference used to be of just one or half a mark,” said Shaleen Suneja, the twins’ father and deputy director at Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

The twins like to study together and keep helping each other out in studies.

“Though we have never been in the same section at school, we always used to study together at home. We now plan to take up the commerce stream and pursue MBA. We will appear for civil services exams as well to try to get into the administrative services,” said Shanaya, two minutes elder to Shreshth.

“I have secured a full 10 on 10 in all subjects and it still seems unbelievable. I cannot contain my excitement and my parents are also over the moon,” said Aanchal Thakur, a student of Delhi Public School, Noida.

Post 1pm on Saturday, when the results went live on the board’s website, students were crowding computer systems to see how they fared.

According to the CBSE grading system, a full 10 is A1, 9 is A2, 8 is B1, 7 is B2 and so on. To calculate the CGPA, students need to add up the best five subjects they scored in and divide it by five.

“Such a grading system has definitely helped boost students’ confidence to do better in their class 12 exams. As many as 33 students out of a total of 182 have secured 10 CGPA with an A1 grade in all subjects,” said Arun Garg, academic coordinator at Kesari Devi Bajaj Public School in Kavi Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Students also took the help of coaching classes to score well.

“Since Maths is my weak point, I took up coaching classes for it and now have managed to get a full score in that as well,” said Vanshika Yadav, a 10 CGPA holder from DPS Ghaziabad, Meerut Road.
