The Noida city traffic police have come up with a way to improve Noida’s chaotic traffic situation. They have been conducting an online survey inviting commuters to suggest measures that can be used to rectify traffic engineering faults on the city roads.

The traffic police have been conducting an online survey inviting commuters to suggest measures that can be used to rectify traffic engineering faults on the city roads.

The page has been created by the traffic police with an objective to check traffic congestion on major intersections across the city.

Though the traffic police have been getting suggestions from commuters from time to time on its Facebook page and Twitter handle, this online survey is likely to get a better response. In most of the posts on Facebook and Twitter, the commuters highlight the current traffic situation but rarely touch upon the basic issues that make some stretches perennial bottlenecks.

Superintendent of police (traffic) Rajeev Narayan Mishra was quite hopeful that with valuable feedback and suggestions from the commuters, the traffic police in association with other agencies would be able to find long-lasting solutions to the problems.

“Suggestions on issues related to road engineering such as U-turns, foot over bridges, opening and closure of medians, traffic signage, driving on the wrong side, parking, new parking sites, footpaths, new installation, faulty signal lights, etc. will help us a great deal,” he said.

Welcoming the move, Rohit Jhanji, a resident of Sector 11, said, “Finally, the traffic police has understood that only those who face the problem while driving on the roads can understand the problem better and suggest solutions. I hope the Noida authority will also act promptly on the suggestions of the traffic police pertaining to road engineering and make suitable changes on the roads,” he said.

Mishra said that all the responses and suggestions will be examined thoroughly and action will be taken accordingly. “This initiative will benefit commuters in due course of time as traffic management in all perspective will improve significantly,” he said.
