Rs 29 lakh robbed in broad daylight in Noida

According to police, a driver and accountant of a hosiery factory in D-block of Sector 63 were returning to the factory in an Eeco van after withdrawing Rs 29 lakh from Kotak Mahindra bank in Sector 62 at 12.36 pm. When the van was about to enter the factory premises, a silver Wagon R stopped in front of the van.

Three armed robbers, who had their faces covered with handkerchiefs, came out of the car and pointed a pistol at the driver and the accountant. One of the robbers smashed the windshield of the car with a screw driver and snatched the keys of the van. Two other robbers snatched the bag containing cash from the accountant and fled in their car towards Noida extension.

The accountant, Narendra Jha, said the money was to be distributed among workers as salary and Diwali bonus. Every year, the factory gives bonus to its workers on Dhanteras.

The police said no security guard was present in the van. They also said no CCTV cameras are installed at the spot where the robbery took place.

“We have beefed up security at all markets in the city. A witness has informed about the registration number of the car. All police stations in the district have been alerted. We have demanded data of the employees working in the factory to get clue in the case,” said Kiran S, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar.
