UP lynching: Families of accused say their boys being framed

An uneasy calm prevails in Bisada village. Fear grips the Muslim community which is still recovering from the horrific memories of the attack on the night of September 28.

The Hindu community is angry over the arrest of six youngsters and anxious about the other four who are on the run after the incident.

The 10 youths accused of killing Ikhlaq and brutally injuring his 21-year-old son Danish lived nearby. Nine of them are between 18 and 22 years. The eldest is 27 years old. Hindu women came out to express their anger over the arrest. They alleged the police targeted the boys after false complaints were made against them by some jealous villagers.

“My brothers have no connection with the attack. They were just watching from far just like hundreds of other villagers. They are studious and hardworking who want to make a career. All our dreams have been shattered,” said Garima, sister of Saurabh Kumar and Gaurav Kumar, who were arrested.

She said Saurabh was preparing for his law examination, while Gaurav worked at private company in Noida. The women said the family of the deceased had got all the attention but nobody was concerned about the youth who were wrongly arrested.
