Work on Greater Noida metro link to begin in June

Work on Noida-Greater Noida Metro link would commence from June 15, officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed on Wednesday. The Rs. 1,800 crore project was awarded to Taiwan-based Continental Engineering Corporation (CEC), which built the Delhi metro and is now constructing the Jaipur metro.

Work on Noida-Greater Noida Metro link would commence from June 15, officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) informed on Wednesday. The Rs. 1,800 crore project was awarded to Taiwan-based Continental Engineering Corporation (CEC), which built the Delhi metro and is now constructing the Jaipur metro.

The link will open for general public later in 2018 and stations on the link-route will run on solar power.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) awarded Rs. 1,800 crore metro construction project on Wednesday to Continental Engineering Corporation (CEC), a Taiwan based construction agency, officials said.

The agency, that had built Metro track in Delhi and now building the Metro in Jaipur city, will begin civil work of Noida-Greater Noida Metro link on ground from June 15, officials said.

Metro services will be provided to general public in Greater Noida by the end of 2018, officials added.

Chief executive officer (CEO) of Noida and Greater Noida authority, Rama Raman said, “We aim to deliver this facility to public in the next three years. Metro Stations and commercial complexes that are a part of this project will be designed by a Spanish agency.”

At a budget of Rs. 5,600 crore, the elevated project boasts of 1,000 pillars—one every 25 meters—that will support the metro tracks. The 29km link will bring the two townships closer to each other. Noida and Greater Noida are 40km away by road.
