Advani, Alok in QF of National Snooker

Pankaj Advani and Alok Kumar scored contrasting wins over their opponents to enter the quarter finals of the national snooker championships here on Saturday.

Advani scored a 4-1 win over R Girish, winning 96-33, 74-32, 50-62, 63-27, and a break of 102-00 in the fifth frame. Alok though survived anxious moments before overcoming Devendra Joshi 4-3 (71-39, 27-65, 24-68, 61-35, 50-57, 77-08, 73-54) in a nail-biting match at the PYC Hindu Gymkana.

Anuj Uppal also advanced with a shock 4-0 ((84-54, 68-65, 98-00, 47-18) win over Yasin Merchant. Others who made the last-eight stage include Lucky Vatnani, I H Manudev, Aditya Mehta, Manan Chandra and Kamal Chawla.
