Bindra checks into Village, moves out

Olympic gold-medallist marksman Abhinav Bindra on Monday checked into the Games Village in New Delhi but made a quick exit, leaving for home, as he had not brought his weapon with him.

National coach Sunny Thomas said Bindra would join his team-mates on Tuesday after depositing his weapons at the Karni Singh Ranges.

“His weapons are at home, so he couldn't stay with us. But he will join the team after depositing his weapons at the Karni Singh Ranges tomorrow. His registration is done and I met him in the dining hall," said Thomas.

Bindra, along with other top shooters like world champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Gagan Narang, is spearheading the Indian challenge at the Games. He will represent the country in 10m air rifle, along with Narang.

Expressing satisfaction after training at the shooting range, Thomas said, "Today we have got the ammunition (Eley Tenes) we wanted and we tested it in different barrels.

“Tejaswini (Sawant) will be shooting with Lapua," Thomas said.
