Bring in a revolution, contribute Rs 10 a month

Olympic Gold Quest is trying to urge Indian sports fans across the world to make a small monthly contribution — after all, Rs 10 a month is hardly an amount most readers of this paper would shy away from — to build up a corpus that will go purely towards building future champions.

So just how many times have you watched another dismal performance by an Indian in the Olympics and wringed your hands in frustration? How many times did you wish that you could actually make a difference?

If you have ever wandered along the opening two questions of this report, then it's time to stop wondering.

If you really want to help contribute towards uplifting Indian sport, then the people at Olympic Gold Quest will be happy to help you. The question is whether you can spare just ten rupees a month.

“We are looking to make this into a mass movement. We want a million Indians to contribute as little as Rs10 a month. That money will be quite adequate to prop up the dreams of many an upcoming sportsman,” said the body's Chief Operating Officer and former member of the national hockey squad Viren Rasquinha.

The already impressive board of the initiative was further bolstered by the formal inclusion of Leander Paes. In December last year, Paes' eight-minute speech at an Entrepreneurial Summit in Mumbai had seen OGC raise Rs 83 lakh after the player made an emotional appeal to the gathered industrialists.

If you don't want to be wringing your hands all over again a decade from now, reach out for that wallet now. Logon to olympicgoldquest.com to figure out how you can make a difference.
