Chikka wins western India gold title

Seenappa Chikkran-gappa, the reigning national champion, completed a comprehensive 11-shot win over fellow Bangalore player Khalin Joshi in the LIC Western India Golf Championship in Mumbai on Friday.

Seenappa Chikkran-gappa, the reigning national champion, completed a comprehensive 11-shot win over fellow Bangalore player Khalin Joshi in the LIC Western India Golf Championship in Mumbai on Friday.

Chikka, who was having a less than satisfactory last few weeks, carded a five-under 65, and totaled 20-under 260 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club.

Chikka's win fetched him 50 points towards the IGU order of Merit, while Joshi took 40.

Jeev, Chowrasia slip
Indian golfers Jeev Milkha Singh and SSP Chowrasia fell further down the ladder with disappointing second round cards in the WGC-HSBC Champions.

Jeev shot one-over 73 and dropped to one-over 145 for two rounds at tied 53rd place. Chowrasia (74) was down to 63rd with a total of three-over 147.

Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson overcame a two-shot deficit by returning a flawless six-under 66 to take the second-round lead. Udayan Mane (68) of Banglaore finished third with a total 274.
