Pension and its disbursement is the burning topic at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) these days. The DDCA, though, is taking its own time to decide on it.
A section of former cricketers, led by Anil Jain, had put up a proposal for pension for former Delhi cricketers who didn't fulfil conditions for the BCCI's retirement allowance. However, the proposal has made no headway even though about two months have elapsed since it was first moved.
“We had sent the request on March 9, but there has been no reply from the top bosses,” complained Anil Jain, joint secretary (Sports).
The proposal mentions the case of 64 cricketers, 55 of whom have represented Delhi in the 4-day format, and four umpires. The proposal has, however, bracketed players in a strange manner.
Those with one and two games, the proposal recommends, should be given Rs 4000, while players with 3 to 24 under their belts will get Rs 9000, the amount the BCCI pays to a First Class cricketer who has represented his state in at least 25 games.
“There is no logic. Why should someone with three games get double the amount that a player with two games is getting? What's the difference?” asked an official. “We know it's meant to accommodate an official who has played three games.”

{{/usCountry}}If Sneh Bansal, DDCA general secretary, is to be believed, the proposal will face opposition.
“There is a general feeling that the division is illogical. I can't say who is behind it, but it's likely that there'll be a better grading of the pensioners.”
The Executive Committee, which includes the president, general secretary, treasurer, vice-presidents, is expected to decide on it.
Going by what Bansal says, the proposal, along with the insurance plan, will be passed in four-five days time.
