Top pros C. Muniyappa, Digvijay Singh and Ashok Kumar will be a part of the inaugural Rs 5 million ‘LG Race to Ireland’ at the Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida, from Wednesday.
120 professionals will tee off, out of which 50 will make the cut after the second day.
The top 20 will then choose one pro from those in the 21st to the 40th positions to form 20 teams of two professionals each. The teams will choose a pair of amateurs, besides another corporate amateur will be chosen through a draw of lot on Nov 4. After the draw, a team of five golfers (two pros + two amateurs + a corporate amateur) will compete over the two days. The winning team will get a chance to compete in the pro-am of the Irish Open next year.
100-mile stage race
Fernando Rodriguez (Spa) won the 20th International Himalayan 100-mile Stage Race in the Darjeeling district with an overall time of 16hrs 23min. John Kenneth Green (UK) and Angel Moreno Galvez (Spa) finished second and third respectively. Among the women runners, Monica Aguilera (Spa) clinched the top position with a time of 17hrs 08min. The second and third position went to Meritxell Llinas (Spa) and Joanne Catherine Plumbley (UK). The oldest participant was Peter Doughlas Chittenden from UK (72 years). The event was held from Oct 25-29.
Air Force School win
Air Force, Subroto Park beat St. Xavier, Sahabad 5-0 in the Mahindra Youth Football Challenge on Tuesday. Alberto Ray scored a brace, while Kamei, Vivek and Arpan scored one each. In other matches, DPS Vasant Kunj beat St. Xavier 3-1.
Ganga International School, Hiran Kundana defeated DPS Rohini 1-0. Also, Mukesh scored a hattrick for CRPF Rohini as they beat Venkateshwar, Rohini 3-0.
