In the absence of spectators and reporters at the Major Dhyanchand National Stadium, the venue for hockey, a spirited Indian men's team outplayed England 3-1 in a practice match on Sunday.

Dhananjay Mahadik, Danish Mujtaba and Vikram Pillai scored for India after the two teams were locked 1-1 at the break.
Mahadik put India ahead within the first 20 minutes, converting a penalty corner, but England restored parity with penalty corner expert Ashley Jackson sounding the board off a rebound.
It was a different story after the change of ends with Mujtaba converting another penalty corner for the hosts before Pillai netted a field goal to complete the tally.
India, who have been drafted in Pool A with Australia, Pakistan, Malaysia and Scotland, launch their Commonwealth Games' campaign against Malaysia on October 5, followed by Australia on October 7, Scotland on October 9 and Pakistan on October 10.
Pool B has England, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and Trinidad and Tobago.
