World number five Saina secured a straight-game victory over China’s Shixian Wang, ranked third, in the summit clash at Basel, Switzerland. The shuttler from Hyderabad, who turned 22 on Saturday, won 21-19 21-16.
In Mirpur, Bangladesh, India chased 330 on back of a whirlwind 183 off 148 balls by Kohli, who scored his second century of the Asia Cup. India registered their highest ODI chase, beating the previous best of 326 against England at Lord’s in 2002.
Kohli whose knock involved 22 hits to the boundary and a soaring six, had support from Sachin Tendulkar (52) and Rohit Sharma (68) as he went about thrashing the Pakistani bowlers all over the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
