Cagers chase London dreams at Asian meet
The Indian hoopsters commence their London Olympic Games qualifying campaign Thursday by taking on Lebanon in their opening Group A league match of the 26th FIBA Asia Basketball Championships at Wuhan, China.
India will take on Malaysia and Korea next. The championship is the qualifying event for the London Olympics with the winners gaining a direct entry while the No 2 and No 3 teams would earn berths at the qualifying tournament.
Birajdar passes away
Former Commonwealth Games wrestling champion Harishchandra Birajdar died in a city hospital Wednesday after prolonged illness.Birajdar (61), was the winner of gold medal in 1970 Commonwealth games.
