The changes in the IOA Charter, according a senior functionary of the suspended IOA, will take place before July 15.

President Abhay Singh Chautala and secretary-general Lalit Bhanot, key officials of the suspended body, were among others who attended the meeting.

Sunday’s meeting was attended by more than 30 representatives of different national sports federations (NSFs) and members of 22 state Olympic units, and they unanimously agreed to amend the constitution.

“The meeting for proposed amendments will take place between July 8 and 12,” said an IOA official.

Apart from age and tenure, ethics will be a key area for the IOA to work on while amending the constitution.

However, the amendments will not be applicable to NSFs, which will go by the constitution of their respective world governing bodies and not follow what is jotted down in the IOA statute.

As per the roadmap chalked out during the May 15 joint meeting of the International Olympic Committee with the Indian government and members of the NSFs, the IOC had directed IOA to elect new office-bearers before September 1.
