Golfer Jeev Milkha Singh was torn between two major decisions ahead of the Scottish Open beginning on Thursday — defending the title he won 12 months ago at the same course, or stay back at home to attend the premiere of ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ - the film made on his father, the legendary Milkha Singh.
“It’s a big week for the family. Me winning last year and defending this week and the movie on my father’s life coming out on Friday,” said Jeev.
Jeev would have loved to spend the week with his family, not just because of the premiere but also because of the finger that is still bothering him.
If Jeev is successful in defending his title, he will qualify for the British Open at Muirfield next week, otherwise he plans to take five weeks off from competition in order to finally heal his troublesome finger.
Rudisha’s world title defence in doubt
David Rudisha’s defence of his world 800 metres title in Moscow next month is in doubt because of a knee injury, the Kenyan’s coach said on Wednesday.“He is progressing on well, but I doubt if he will heal early enough to resume training for the World Championships,” said Rudisha’s coach Colm O’Connell.
“We will give a comprehensive report on his condition after a week then we will communicate to the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations) and Athletics Kenya.“His wild card (for the championships) is an advantage, but we are praying that he responds well to treatment,” Irishman O’Connell added.

Cycling team
Firefox Bikes launched their eight-member road cycling squad — Team Trek Firefox — on Wednesday. The riders were selected from across the country on the basis of their performance. The selected riders would be imparted training and also provided with equipment.
