Continuing with his superb form, Sandeep Singh stormed into the title round of the 46kg weight category in the AIBA Junior World Championship in Yerevan, Armenia, on Friday. The Bhiwani pugilist defeated Uzbekistan's Javlonbek Eshmatov 8-4. Sandeep dominated from the opening round and did not allow the Uzbek to settle down.

Three other Indians, Namit Bahadur (50kg), Vikas Khatri (54kg) and Shiva Thapa (52kg) failed to pass the semifinal test and settled for bronze.
Namit lost to Talgat Bertleuov of Kazakhstan 3-7, Vikas went down to Cuba's Ernesto Yunior 2-5 and Shiva lost to Yerbolt Seidalliyev of Kazakhstan 4-8.
“I am satisfied with today's performance. Though Vikas, Namit and Shiva couldn't make it to the final, they gave their best. Victory and defeat are part of the game, the main thing is how one performs,” coach MS Dhaka told HT.
