World chess champion Vishwanathan Anand said that the reason he did not take part in as many events in India as he would like was because the standard did not motivate him.

"What I look for in a tournament, before I take part, is the kind of opposition there is. If the standard is good enough I will definitely participate, but so far this has not been the case for some years," said Anand who was in the capital on Saturday to attend a panel discussion by NIIT on the role of chess in developing young minds at school.
