The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar of Indian origin, Khali or Dalip Singh Rana as he was known before he became a wrestling sensation, was in the city to promote the entertainment brand. “My association with the global brand has been very fulfilling. I want my fellow countrymen to follow it and consider it as a career, if possible.” Surprisingly, though the ex-Punjab Police constable is focussed on increasing his fan base, he has no plans of encouraging professional wrestling among young people in India. “I plan to visit my native village in the days to come but have no plans of training the youth in wrestling, in the near future,” he said.

Khali, who was reportedly asked to cheer for Kolkata Knight Riders, chose to remain silent when asked to comment on the management of WWE, in the light of the recent IPL controversy especially as both WWE and IPL are big-money, sports entertainment packages.
