Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh, who has been named for both Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, is unhappy with the way the selection trials were held as he felt a few "deserving" boxers were ignored.
"This is not the right way to hold the selection trials and it is disappointing. When you are selecting the team on the basis of the bouts during the three-day trails then what's forcing you not to disclose the scores," said Vijender Singh.
The selection trials were held on August 26 to 28.
"A few days ago, the selection trials of the wrestling squad were held in Sonepat and there the result of every bout was disclosed and even the public were allowed to witness the trials. But here in Patiala, the trials were held within the closed doors. The scores were not declared, none of the boxers was told who won," he said.
Vijender felt Sunil Kumar (49kg) and his cousin Balwinder Beniwal (64kg) should have figured in at least of the teams.
Reacting to the allegations, Indian Boxing Federation secretary general P K Muralidharan Raja said that the trials were transparent and only deserving boxers were in the team.

{{/usCountry}}"I have spoken to him about this and explained to him that Balwinder was clearly beaten during the trials. We cannot ignore performances. I can understand his disappointment but the selection committee has been fair," he said.
The world No 1 meanwhile, said he was looking forward to both the Games. "I have become immune to pressure now. In fact, I enjoy it when the spotlight is on me.”
