Four months after tigress ST-14 was spotted with two cubs, tigress ST-12 was spotted with three cubs on August 31 – a first for Sariska Tiger Reserve (STR) in Alwar, after it was repopulated with tigers from Ranthambore, said reserve officials. In the counting of votes for elections to 105 urban local bodies (ULBs) across Karnataka, which began at 8 am on Monday, the Congress was ahead by 52 seats, winning in 814 civic body seats across the state, while the BJP had won in 762 seats as of 11:45 am, according to the SEC website. At least 180 tourists were evacuated from Mussoorie’s famous Kemty Falls after heavy rains resulted in flood-like situation on Sunday evening. Water from the 40-feet fall spilled on to the main road after debris from landslides accumulated at its origin. The flooding of the road forced tourists to take cover by climbing the hills.
