Photos: Maharashtra battles high fatality rate as Covid cases rise

Updated On Jun 22, 2020 03:00 pm IST

While on the one hand coronavirus cases are rising at a rate of over 3,800 per day in Maharashtra as of June 22, the state’s higher than normal case fatality rate (CFR) at 4.67% compared to the national average of 3.28% is cause for greater concern. The state government has on May 31 vowed to bring the rate down to 3%, but consecutive rises and data reconciliations have only taken that number in the opposite direction. Reducing the CFR in the next fortnight is now a priority for the state’s task force on Covid-19.
