Ashoka University wins the first round of the Hindustan Times Centennial Debate, advances towards national finals

As Hindustan Times celebrated its centennial anniversary, the inaugural round of Hindustan Times Centennial Debate was organized at Bikaner House on Tuesday morning. Students from various universities in Delhi participated in the debate. Students from Ashoka University won the debate.

The Jury was composed of India’s G20 sherpa Amitabh Kant, senior journalist Sonia Singh and businessman Suhel Seth.

Students participated in the debate with the topic “This house believes the social media generation is more lost than found." Students debated and presented various arguments, presenting different viewpoints of the same topic.

Supporters of the motion pointed out the harms of social media on youth and mental health, while opponents argued it provides access to information, supports marginalized groups, and raises awareness of issues like the Gaza crisis.
