A lot of us have been in deeply conflicting relationships, leading to self-harm. The constant thought of hiding things from others or betraying people can be extremely difficult for oneself to deal with. “I believe that lack of transparency, chronic lying to ourselves and others creates stress that is completely overwhelming to the body and of course our soul. It can create disease, depression, anxiety, and all sorts of negative coping mechanisms. When we betray another, we betray ourselves, too,” wrote Psychologist Nicole LePera.(Unsplash)
