Pankaj Udhas funeral: Singer laid to rest with gun salute, family bids emotional farewell

Pankaj Udhas died in Mumbai on Monday at the age of 72. His funeral took place in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Nirmal Udhas and Manhar Udhas, brothers of Pankaj Udhas were seen paying their last respects. Pankaj Udhas's mortal remains were covered in tricolour at his residence in Mumbai. He was laid to rest today with state honours by the Mumbai Police.

Sonu Nigam consoled Pankaj Udhas's family members. "One of the most important part of my childhood, is lost today. Shri Pankaj Udhas ji, I will miss you forever. My heart cries knowing that you are no more. Thank you for being there. Om Shanti," Sonu Nigam said as he remembered the singer on his Instagram handle.

A hearse for Pankaj Udhas' final journey was decorated with white flowers, and included a big picture of the singer. Family members, friends and relatives arrived at the ghazal singer's residence on Tuesday afternoon to pay their last respects.
