A gang of eight people vandalised vehicles and threw stones at houses, after a man they were trying to kill escaped their attacks, in Thergaon late on Friday, according to the police.
Vishal Babar (23), a resident of Thergaon, filed a complaint at the Wakad police station after being attacked with weapons including a sickle, iron and wooden rods by Ajay Bhosale (23) and Atul Thorat (19), among others. A case of attempted murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was filed at the Wakad police station. The gang was also booked under Section 143, 144, 147, 149 and 427 of IPC.
The three men, including the complainant, work in private companies. They knew each other and live in the same vicinity, according to the police. Over an old feud, the attackers tried to kill Babar, who escaped, according to the police.
The men, parked their vehicles outside the lane where Babar ran since the lane was narrow, saidassistant police inspector (API) PS Bhogum of Wakad police station, who is investigating the case.
The gang, then, followed him in the lane and vandalised a tempo traveller, two cars including an SUV, bikes before breaking glass window of the houses in the area, according to API Bhogum. The men, then, resorted to spreading terror in the area, the police said.
No arrests have been made in the case as the police are trying to ascertain the identity of the other men.
