When the police first arrested Kadam, he was found in possession of four mobile phones worth 29,000. The other phones were recovered from his acquaintance, friends and family members, to whom he had sold the mobile phones, according to the police.

"He kept the receipt of the mobile phones and sold them through Olx at a subsidised rate. A rebate of some amount is available on online transactions anyway, so no one suspected anything against him," said Pankaj Dahane, deputy commissioner of police, crime.

The complaint in the matter was filed by Pranav Gopal Borale, security loss manager of Amazon Transportation Pvt Ltd. The police of Unit 1 learned that the suspect in the case was coming to Tingare Vavar in Bhairavnagar area of Pune with a bag full of mobile phones.

The police do not suspect Kadam, who worked at the company for the past four years, to have had any associates in the matter, according to assistant commissioner of police Sameer Shaikh.
