Kodre was the city mayor between September 2013 and September 2014. She won the municipal elections in the year 2012 as a first-time corporator and within her first term got a chance to become the mayor. NCP chief Sharad Pawar said Pune has lost a cultured, studious corporator. “Kodre’s death has pained me. As a mayor, her stint will always be remembered by people from Pune,” he said.

Kodre suffered severe attack in the wee hours on Monday. The family members immediately admitted her to a private hospital. However, doctors announced Kodre’s death later in the afternoon.

During her tenure as a mayor, she made several efforts to sort out women’s issue and various problems in Hadapsar area.

As she is a sitting member of the PMC and former mayor, municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar on Monday announced half-day holiday for the municipal offices. Nationalist Congress Party’s city unit president and MP Vandana Chavan said that her death is a great loss to the party.
