Four killed, four injured in Pune-Mumbai e-way accident
The mishap occurred after the tyre of the car they were travelling in burst on the expressway on Wednesday afternoon.
Four persons were killed and four others injured after the tyre of the car they were travelling in burst on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway on Wednesday afternoon.
“They were all friends and were travelling from Mumbai to Pune for a wedding,” said Sanjay Kelkar, police naik of Talegaon Dabhade police station under the Pune rural police jurisdiction.
Even though the area is under the Kamshet police station jurisdiction, Talegaon Dabhade police responded to the call.
The deceased were identified as Siddhesh Bede, Nikhil Prakash Rao, Nitin Jinwal and Rupesh Jadhav.
Four other injured were identified as Akshay Chavan, Vaibhavi Sudhrik, Jayashree Rathod and Nita Chinalkar.
One of the injured, Chavan, was the driver of the car. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, a multi purpose vehicle (MPV), was registered at MH03CB8684 in the name of a man identified as Yogesh M Punjabi. The highway police as well as Talegaon Dabhade police rushed to the spot.
Station house officer police naik PM Sapkal of Kamshet police station joined them later.
“The deceased will be taken to the Talgaon Dabhade primary health centre for post-mortem,” said Kelkar. While Jinwal and Chinalkar were taken to Sparsh hospital, the others were admitted to the Pawana Hospital, both near Somatane Phata in Talegaon. The incident, however, will be recorded at the Kamshet police station. Police are trying to contact the family members of the deceased and the injured. One of the deceased, Nikhil Rao, was a cleaner at the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Another accident
There was yet another accident involving a car on the expressway under the Talegaon Dabhade police station jurisdiction. No one was injured in the incident, according to police officials.
