The 1,000-crore Mula-Mutha river development project was approved by the central government in January 2016, but the project has failed to kick-start. Earlier, the project got delayed because it failed to appoint a consultant to prepare the tender document.

PMC then, with a consultant on board, prepared the tender document and submitted it to the central government. The government took two months to give nod for the terms and conditions.

V J Kulkarni, PMC’s water department head, confirmed that the civic body has got the permission from the government and it has approved the terms and conditions prepared by the municipal corporation. Now PMC will float the tender for actual works. Kulkarni said that by considering the tender period and upcoming monsoon season, the work on the ground will start during Diwali.
