The accused, identified as Vikram Attar Singh (32), is a resident of Hadapsar. According to cyber crime officials, Singh cheated his victims on the pretext of providing them house helps, and taking large sums of money as advance.

Sambhaji Kadam, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) cyber crime, stated that the accused started a company called Rudrasai Enterprises, the details of which were available online. One of the victims, an Air Force official, who was posted in West Bengal, approached the accused as he wanted to hire a maid for his parents.

The victim deposited Rs 26,000 in the account of the said company as agency commission and one month salary for the maid. However, after the maid failed to turn up, the victim made repeated calls to the company number. When he received evasive replies from the accused, he lodged a complaint with the cyber police who conducted a forensic investigation and found out the details of the accused.

Further investigations are being carried by Nilesh More, assistant commissioner of police (ACP) and his team.
