According to the police, the deceased woman was identified as Shalan Suresh Ghule, 59, a resident of Manjri. Ghule was travelling from Hadapsar to Manjri and was alighting from the bus at 6:15 pm when the bus started to move. One of her feet was on the last step of the bus when she fell on the road after the bus started moving. As she fell down, the left rear wheel of the bus ran over her, killing her on the spot.

Dilip Gade, assistant police inspector of Hadapsar police station, who is investigating the case, said, “Ghule was a housewife. She was returning home from Hadapsar when the incident took place. The bus driver did not realise that the woman was run over until people on the road raised an alarm. Her body was taken to the Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem.”
