Pune man booked for kidnap and daughters abortion

According to the FIR, the main accused Pandey forcibly took Bulbul to their native place in Uttar Pradesh and conducted an “illegal abortion”, with the help of another unidentified woman

Acting on K Padmanabhan, Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporation (PCMC) police commissioner’s direct orders, the Sangvi police, on Saturday, February 9, lodged a first information report (FIR) against Saroj Kumar Pandey, father of Annapurnima (Bulbul) Ghorpade, for abduction and forcefully aborting the child she was carrying.

Mrunal Dhondhu Ghorpade, the complainant in the matter, says his wife was 26 weeks pregnant when she was abducted by her father Pandey, on January 29, 2018. Pandey is still absconding.

According to the FIR, the main accused Pandey forcibly took Bulbul to their native place in Uttar Pradesh and conducted an “illegal abortion”, with the help of another unidentified woman.

The FIR also states: “The aborted foetus was a girl child ,”and allegedly, “disposed off in a river”.

Commissioner K Padmanabhan said that he personally gave orders to the police to immediately register the FIR in the case as the complainant met him and apprised him of the case. “I have started an open door policy when the complainant can directly come to meet me and I will ensure that justice will be done,” he said.

Padmanabhan also promised action against officials of the police station for dereliction of duty in the case.
