After the successful implementation of the smart public bicycle sharing service in several parts of the city, including Aundh road and Pune University, PSCDCL decided to extend it to other parts of the city.

“Pune Smart City wanted to implement the initiative in Koregaon Park area due to the fact that many residents of the area loved the idea and there was constant demand for smart public bicycle sharing service here. A positive approach from residents, especially in safeguarding the bicycles, since they belong to the operators with whom Pune Smart City has signed a MoU, will go a long way in ensuring that there is frequent and constant supply of bicycles in the area. This in turn will foster an environment friendly and a healthy way of life. We should consider taking care of the bicycles as our responsibility, so that all Punekars can benefit from it. The issues of traffic jams and pollution will be reduced through the smart public bicycle sharing scheme,” said Jagtap, during the launch.

There are more than 200 ‘smart’ bicycles kept at different stations by Pune Smart City’s operator PEDL of Zoomcar in Koregaon Park area. Residents can hire a ‘smart’ bicycle from one station and drop off at another, thus making their travel easy and comfortable.
