SPPU initiates philosophy research programme

The research will involve other disciplines like social history, culture and language within its purview and will be carried out for a span of 1 year, after which it is to be published in a journal.

It is for the first time that a department at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is dedicating all its teaching resource to churn out the best research in the field of philosophy.(HT FILE PHOTO )

The teaching staff of the department of philosophy at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is about to initiate a full-fledged research programme at the varsity, in order to enrich the department with path-breaking findings in the field, said SPPU officials on Wednesday.

“This is for the first time that a department at the university is dedicating all its teaching resource to churn out the best research in the field of philosophy. All the work, will then be recorded and published in a new department journal. Through this initiative, we are trying to incorporate other departments for interdisciplinary research as well, so that some path-breaking work can be done for the future,” said the head of the department, Ravindra Muley.

The research will involve other disciplines like social history, culture and language within its purview and will be carried out for a span of 1 year, after which it is to be published in a journal. The project would also undertake several minor research projects to enhance the work both qualitatively and quantitatively. “The funds that have been allocated for our department, is going to be used in this work,” added Muley.

Faculty members involved in the project include, Ashish Sangle, Muzaffar Ali Malla, Mohit Tandon, Shridhar Akashkar, Harishchandra Navale and Karilemla.
