Woman snatches 10- day-old baby girl from mother’s lap and flees in Bopodi

According to the police, Reshma Sheikh, a 26-year-old resident of Dapodi, had brought her 10-day-old child to a private hospital for treatment. The incident occurred when she was returning home after treatment around 1.30 pm.

In a shocking incident, a 10-day-old baby girl was snatched from her mother's hand while she was travelling by a shared autorickshaw towards Dapodi on Wednesday around 1.30 pm.

While Reshma was busy taking out money from her bag to pay the autorickshaw driver, an unknown woman who was sitting beside her, snatched her child from her thigh and fled. (HT REPRESENTATIVE PHOTO)

According to the police, Reshma Sheikh, a 26-year-old resident of Dapodi, had brought her 10-day-old child to a private hospital for treatment. The incident occurred when she was returning home after treatment around 1.30 pm. After meeting the doctor, Reshma came out of hospital and hailed a shared auto rickshaw to return home. When the auto reached the Bopodi bridge area, while Reshma was busy taking out money from her bag, an unknown woman who was sitting in the rickshaw snatched Reshma’s child from her thigh and fled. Police was rushed to the spot and a complaint was filed. Police are still trying to find the unknown woman who abducted the baby girl with the help of CCTV footage.
