Youth duped of Rs 47,994 in Pune

An 18-year-old youth from Manajinagar in Sinhagad has a lodged a complaint with the local police station that two persons duped him to the tune of Rs 47,994 on the pretext of selling an iPhone. The incident took place between December 12 and December 31, 2018, on the online platform, OLX.
The complainant choose to be anonymous, according to the police.
According to the complaint, the youth saw the advertisement of an iPhone mobile phone on sale on the social media platform, and approached the suspects and paid the money via Paytm. Instead of delivering the phone to the buyer, the accused decamped with the money.
A case has been registered in the matter and the police have invoked relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act, besides Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused.
No arrests have been made in the case so far.
