District and sessions judge Deepak Gupta, who is also chairman of the district legal services authority (DLSA), on Saturday said 1,225 disputes were settled at the second mega national lok adalat held at judicial complex here.
He claimed that a compensation of Rs 74.5 lakhs were awarded to the 22 accident victims adding that as many as 2376 cases were taken up by the different judicial officers.
Inspecting High Court Judge T.P.S. Maan said that the 'Lok Adalts' are dispensing inexpensive and quick justice and the legal awareness was being created by involving students through seminars and symposiums.
He said that efforts are on to include legal education the curriculum. Lauding the efforts of the organizers, HC judge said that DLSA has deputed 49 legal aid counselors and have posted 26 advocates at 50 legal aid centers in rural areas.
Earlier DJ said that second national lok adalat was held across the country from the Supreme Court to Taluk Courts for settlement of all matters including Criminal Compoundable Cases, Negotiable Instruments Act cases u/s 138, Motor Accident Claim Tribunal cases, Matrimonial/Family Court Cases, all types of Labour Disputes, Land Acquisition Cases.
He said civil disputes, revenue cases, MGNREGA, electricity and water bills, cases relating to sales tax, income tax, property tax etc, service matters, Forest Act Cases, Cantonment Board Matters, Railway Claims, Disaster Compensation, Appeals, DRT Matters were taken up.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg informed that Rs 10 lakhs compensation was awarded to village Rajjo Majra resident Des Raj who had received multiple injuries in a car accident and the case was pending before MACT for one and a half year.
