NRI booked for kidnapping, raping Moga village minor

A non-resident Indian (NRI) has been booked for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl at Dhurkot Tahliwala village in Moga district. The accused, identified as Jagseer Singh, 25, is a permanent resident of Canada. He is on the run.

A non-resident Indian (NRI) has been booked for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl at Dhurkot Tahliwala village in Moga district. The accused, identified as Jagseer Singh, 25, is a permanent resident of Canada. He is on the run.

Investigation officer subinspector Pal Singh said the case has been registered on the complaint of victim’s father. The girl is a class-10 student.

According to the complaint, Jasgeer kidnapped the girl on October 9 and took her to a deserted place outside the village where he raped her. “The matter came to light on October 10 when the girl returned home and narrated the entire incident to her parents following which they approached police,” said the investigation officer.

Accused on the run

The accused NRI has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 376 (rape), 365 (kidnapping) and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The medical examination of the girl has been conducted “The accused is still at large. We have formed various teams to raid his possible hideouts. He will be arrested soon,” said the sub-inspector.
