2 held, heroin worth Rs 10 crore seized

Busting a gang of drug peddlers, the police arrested two persons and seized 2 kg heroin from them. Additional deputy commissioner of police, crime, Naresh Kumar said today that Resham Singh of vilage Cheecha and Inderjit Singh of village Garinda in Amritsar district were arrested with 2 kg heroin worth Rs 10 crore in international market.

Busting a gang of drug peddlers, the police arrested two persons and seized 2 kg heroin from them.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), crime, Naresh Kumar in a press conference, said that Resham Singh of vilage Cheecha and Inderjit Singh of village Garinda in district Amritsar were arrested with 2 kg heroin worth Rs 10 crore in international market.

The suspects were arrested while travelling in a Tata Safari car bearing registration number CH-04A-9747 on the Ladowali-Chuggitti road on Sunday.

"Preliminary interrogation has revealed that they used to get the contraband from areas situated on the Indian-Pakistan border. The seized substance was bought from a person named Tarsem Singh, alias Sema Dodhi, resident village Bhuse, district Amritsar."

The accused are suppliers to Jalandhar, Kapurthala and other adjoining regions from over one year now. The police are investigating their local links and find out their modus operandi. Both have been sent in two-day police remand.
