2 held with 14 kg of opium

Police arrested a man from Rajasthan and another from Madhya Pradesh when they were carrying 14 kg of opium in a truck from Punjab. According to police, the two men had hidden the contraband under the driver's seat.

Police arrested a man from Rajasthan and another from Madhya Pradesh when they were carrying 14 kg of opium in a truck from Punjab on Saturday.

According to police, the two men had hidden the contraband under the driver's seat. However, they were caught during a special check by the police at Guthimara village under Julkan police station.

Patiala senior superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Gill in a conference said the opium was worth more than Rs 12 lakh. The accused have been identified as Bhupinder Kumar of Madhusar district in Madhya Pradesh and Bikram Singh of Jalore district in Rajasthan.

A case was registered against the two men under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in Julkan police station.
