Two more eagles suffered injuries due to plastic kite strings on Friday.
Pakshi Sewa Samiti administrated first aid to the injured birds and informed the forest department for rehabilitation of the birds.
Vipan Bhatia, founder president of Pakshi Sewa Samiti, said Sukhwinder Singh, a local resident, found an injured eagle in Daresi area and handed over the bird to them.
The other injured eagle was brought by a railway employee Sweety.
Sharma said feathers of both birds were entangled in the plastic kite string that had injured their feathers.
The samiti after administrating treatment had earlier handed over three injured eagles to the forest department three days ago. Sharma said these birds, too, had become victims of plastic string.
He further said as many as 44 injured birds were brought to the Samiti for treatment this season; out of them six birds had succumbed to injuries.
Meanwhile, the Division Number 1 police station arrested a shopkeeper for storing and selling plastic kite string among people despite a ban on Thursday evening.
The accused has been identified as Suresh Kumar alias Vicky of Grewal Enclave, Haibowal Kalan.
Inspector Surinder Mohan, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 1 police station, said the accused was selling plastic strings at his shop on Gokul Road. The police conducted a raid at his shop and recovered 164 roles of plastic string.
The accused has been identified as Suresh Kumar alias Vicky of Grewal Enclave, Haibowal Kalan.
