Sources said the bus developed a technical fault, after which the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the wall. Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was overspeeding, and the passengers had a miraculous escape as there was a deep gorge near the accident site.

The 23 injured passengers, whose condition is said to be stable, were brought to the Dadahu referral hospital. Of these, the three seriously hurt, including Aarti, Durga Devi and Kamla were referred to the district hospital.

Sangrah sub-divisional magistrate Harbans Negi and regional transport officer Sushil Sharma visited the spot.

According to reports, 18 people were killed and 47 injured when a private bus rolled down a deep gorge in Shillai block on Monday. On March 6, many passengers had a lucky escape when a private bus skidded off the road near Satuan.
